About Lori Lisi

Lori was born in Fort Worth, Texas and has never even seen a turnip truck, much less fallen off of one. She attended the University of Texas of Arlington for much of the 90s and signed up for a bachelor's degree plan in Public Relations sometime early in that decade. Even with the realization that the Public Relations degree plan was under the jurisdiction of the Journalism sector of the Communications Department, she still doesn't understand why the institution wouldn't actually print the words, "Public Relations," on her diploma instead of awarding her with a piece of paper that said, "Journalism."

After that much money, you'd think you could have whatever you wanted printed on pretty much anything, much less have it match your actual degree plan.

Nonetheless, it didn't seem to matter. After performing the function of public relations (and a few other roles) in several industries, such as biotech, film, and advertising and public relations agencies, she lucked upon serving an internship as a public relations assistant for a company that focused on promoting authors. Coupled with a few writing assignments here and there, such as broadcast writing, desktop publishing, and magazine articles, it all seemed to naturally roll over to the arena of book publishing—her original love anyway.

So, after joining the Editorial Freelancers Association, the National Writers Union, the Public Relations Society of America, the International Webmasters Association, and the Freelancers Association for Recovering Tester Association Addictions (FARTAA), she set to work at helping authors get published—from book editing to query letters, synopses, book proposals, and promotion plans to even screening bogus agents from real, live, bona fide, strictly commission-working representatives of authors' interests.

She's been a professional writer/editor/publicist for over ten years, with over 60 manuscript projects to her credit. Among those, nearly 30 have become published authors. Her work on those projects may have included book editing, writing submission materials, researching agents, or providing promotional guidance or publishing advice. Her goal, since she entered this industry in 1995, was to help authors all along the way of getting published.

As for her own muse, she wrote her first short story at twelve and has been a writer and bibliophile all her life. She may otherwise be found having a life with her husband and daughter in Fort Worth, Texas—where there are no turnip trucks.
